Raleigh Housing Authority (RHA) offers the following as a part of the agency’s comprehensive benefits program:

Retirement Plans *
NC Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System (LGERS): Participation is mandatory for employees in regular positions that require at least 1,000 hours of work in a calendar year. Employees contribute 6% of gross earnings on a pre-tax basis. RHA also makes regular contributions as mandated by the NC Department of State Treasurer.
Optional 401(K) & 457 Plans: Participation is voluntary. Contributions can be made on a pre-tax and/or after-tax basis per plan rules. RHA matches up to a maximum of 4% of employee contributions. Participants are fully and immediately vested upon enrollment.
Roth IRA: Participation is voluntary. Contributions are made via payroll deduction.
Health Insurance Plans *
Medical: RHA offers two medical plan options. Prescription drug coverage and an allowance for vision reimbursement are included with both plans. RHA pays a portion of the premiums for single and dependent coverage if elected.
Dental: RHA pays a portion of premiums for single and dependent coverage if elected.
Transparency of Coverage Rule:
In 2020, the Department of Labor issued a regulation in regards to the Transparency of Coverage Rule. Among this transparency regulation, all non-grandfathered, group health plans must post and maintain their in and out-of-network provider costs on a publically accessible website file (in a JSON format).
The deadline has been extended until July 1, 2022.

Life Insurance & Income Protection Plans *
Group Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance: RHA provides all full-time employees with coverage valued at two times their annual salary. This benefit is provided at no cost to the employee.
Short Term Disability Insurance: This optional plan provides income protection for a maximum of 13 weeks. Benefit amount is selected by the employee at election.
Long Term Disability Insurance: This optional plan provides up to 60% of the employee’s basic monthly earnings after 90 days of continuous disability. RHA pays 50% of employee premiums, if elected.
