Leased Housing
Housing Choice Voucher Specialist
Krystyle “Krysi” Ortiz is a seasoned Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Specialist with extensive experience in affordable housing administration, particularly in working with veterans and processing Section 8 vouchers. Before joining RHA this summer, Krystyle worked at the Wake County Housing Authority (WCHA) as a HUD/HCV Specialist, where she gained hands-on experience in managing briefings, annual re-certifications, and moves. She also developed strong expertise in Yardi which she leveraged to streamline processes and improve efficiency for both clients and staff.
In her current role at RHA, Krystyle draws on her previous experience, including her time at Wayfinders in Massachusetts, where she processed vouchers for applicants coming off waiting lists. With more than a year of Yardi experience, Krystyle was able to quickly adapt to RHA’s systems and hit the ground running, using her skills to contribute to the team’s success. Her ability to learn and apply new processes with confidence has made her a valuable asset to RHA.
Krystyle found the opportunity at RHA through an online job listing while seeking a new professional challenge. After interviewing, she was thrilled to be offered the position and excited to continue her work in affordable housing with an organization that shares her commitment to supporting families and preventing homelessness.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she moved to Georgia at age 13 and later spent nearly 20 years in Springfield, MA, before relocating to Raleigh three years ago. She is one of nine siblings and has a large, close-knit family that she misses, though her own family in Raleigh keeps her busy. She has four children: a college student at WTCC studying Human Services, a high school son who plays basketball, a middle school daughter who also plays basketball, and an elementary school daughter. The family stays active, with Krystyle being a proud “basketball mom,” attending her son’s and daughter’s practices and games whenever possible.
When not working, Krystyle enjoys spending time with her kids, traveling (she hopes to visit Hawaii one day), and staying involved in her children’s activities. With her strong background in affordable housing, a deep commitment to her community, and a passion for helping families find stable housing, she is excited to continue her work at RHA and contribute to the agency’s mission of providing affordable housing solutions.
