HOPE VI - Relocation

RELOCATION.  After receiving the HOPE VI Grant to demolish and rebuild Halifax Court in August of 1999, RHA staff immediately began preparing to relocate the residents of Halifax Court. Residents were asked to rate their top three choices for housing. They could choose from any of the other public housing developments offered by the Housing Authority or they could choose to take a Section 8 Voucher. All of the Halifax residents received their first or second choice for housing.  By July 2000, all families at Halifax Court had been relocated. No one was made homeless as a result of RHA’s HOPE VI program. RHA continues to track these individuals and offers personalized case management to these families to assist them toward self-sufficiency.
