RALEIGH HOUSING AUTHORITY
SECTION 8 INSPECTION POLICY
ADOPTED APRIL 2001
V. EXTENSIONS:
- If a repair(s) on a failed unit cannot be completed within the 30 calendar days from the date of the letter, due to situations beyond normal control, an extension may be allowed. Examples include but are not limited to: materials ordered (special glass and/or carpet), unfavorable weather conditions (paint and/or concrete). All extension requests must be made in writing to the Supervisor of the Inspection Division prior to the abatement date. This letter must state the reason for the extension request and the length of time requested. Documentation that the situation is beyond normal control must be included. If the unit failed with HQS violations, aside from the situation(s) beyond normal control, the unit must be re-inspected. All items other than the beyond normal control items must pass prior to approval of an extension. A written notification of the approval or disapproval of the extension will be sent to the owner or owner’s representative by the Inspection Supervisor. If approved, the extension will be effective as of the date of receipt of the letter from the owner or owner’s representative requesting the extension.
